We are currently seeking:

Head of Crewing

BW is looking for a highly motivated Crewing professional to join and lead our experienced Crewing Team in Oslo. The successful candidate will be heading a team of three Crew Managers responsible for all aspects of Crewing Operation for an assigned fleet of 26 LPG VLGC ships. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious and self-propelled manager.

The Head of Crewing will be fully responsible for all aspects of the Crewing Operations and will closely cooperate with our local manning offices, agents and our centralized crewing services within the BW Group

Responsibilities:

  • Crewing strategy; Forward looking and planning for development
  • Wage strategy; Overlook our wage scales and benchmark with the industry
  • Business development: Continually look for improvements
  • Business Unit processes and policies: Keep updated and efficient
  • Management reporting & KPI’s: Follow up and initiate actions when required
  • Budgets; Annual budgets, monthly reviews, and full year estimates
  • Cost control; Approval of invoices, contracts, payroll, overtime, bonuses, and claims
  • Crew Planning; Rotation & Crew change plans, Safe manning, Experience matrixes, Q88 and Crew supply & demand reports
  • Crew Development; Appraisals, training, assessments, promotions, and disciplinary cases
  • Recruitment; Sourcing and hiring of crew
  • Medical; P&I claims, medical emergencies, cost control, record keeping and PEME
  • Manning Agents; liaising with and audit of manning offices/agents
  • Account Management; Internal customer relations 
  • Union; Renewal and management of union agreements in cooperation with centralized crewing services
  • Compliance; Training & qualification matrix, D&A tests, MLC, and Flag state requirements
  • Procedures; Be able to update, develop and roll out crewing procedures

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor degree in relevant studies or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 5 years of management experience within Marine HR
  • Maritime studies or seagoing experience is an advantage
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English
  • Computer literate, experience with Windows 365 and with crewing tools for planning and follow up
  • Hold a permanent residence permit for work purposes in Norway
